Mills River Park Live Staking
Restoration work along the river at Mills River Park is well underway. They are working on removing invasive species and replacing them with natives and restoring the stream bank that has been battered by erosion. To restore a lot of the native habitat, we need to get started installing live stakes and we can't do that without our volunteers. These live stakes are dormant cuttings from a variety of riparian plants including dogwood, elderberry, ninebark, and more. The live stakes are inserted into the soil and will grow roots into the bank. These water-loving plants will help stabilize the stream bank to prevent erosion. We look forward to having you volunteer with us and please email [email protected] with any questions.
